2011 Toyota Tacoma is Moving Forward in CT

Toyota of Wallingford, one of the leading Toyota dealers serving the Connecticut area, announces that MotorIntelligence.com has named the 2011 Toyota Tacoma as the Best Selling Compact Pickup for five years in a row.

The 2011 Toyota Tacoma comes in 4 models: Regular Cab, Access Cab, Double Cab and the X-Runner. Whether you are looking for a vehicle to cross over any terrain or to haul a heavy load of cargo, the 2011 Toyota Tacoma is the best in its class. For the fifth year in a row, MotorIntelligence.com has named the Toyota Tacoma the Best Selling Compact Pickup, says Toyota of Wallingford.

Great Fuel Economy for CT Toyota Tacoma Drivers

toyota of wallingfordThe Regular Cab model of the Tacoma gets 25-mpg on the highway–which is great news for all CT Toyota fans. The Regular Cab also comes standard with AM/FM CD with MP3/WMA playback capability and an auxiliary audio jack. The interior is equipped with 12V auxiliary power outlets. Entertainment features in the Toyota Tacoma are top of the line, all updated for the 2011 models.

As for safety, the Tacoma includes Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock Brake System, Smart Stop Technology and LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) for younger children who sit in the front seat. With such great safety features and fuel economy at such a low price tag, the Toyota Tacoma in CT is ideal for Toyota drivers.

CT Drivers Recommend the X-Runner for Premium Features

The Tacoma X-Runner features the ability to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in seven seconds, which is pretty impressive for a truck of its grandiose size. The exterior of the X-Runner has been built for tough terrain; and comes standard with fog lamps, power outside mirrors, X-brace-tuned Suspension with gas-filler Bilstein and 18-inch alloy wheels with P255/45R18 Bridgestone Potenza RE 050A tires.

In contrast with the rugged exterior, the interior of the X-Runner offers drivers plenty of technology to make the ride more enjoyable for Toyota of Wallingford customers. These features include keyless entry, a tailgate-handle integrated backup camera and optional XM Radio.

The buyer can also be assured that the reliability of the Tacoma as the purchase is covered by Toyota’s limited warranty. Toyota’s limited warranty covers anything that may happen to a Toyota, including repairs on all parts of the vehicle, for 36-months or 36,000 miles.

Rumormill: Toyota bringing Lexus GS, Scion FT-86 to New York Auto Show

Filed under: New York Auto Show, Coupe, Sedan, Lexus, Scion, Toyota, Rumormill Click either image for high-res image gallery We’ve gotten word from a very reliable source that Toyota is planning two big debuts at the New York Auto Show, although neither is wearing a ToMoCo badge. First up is a fully redesigned Lexus GS, something that we’ve reported on and spied before. Although it’s unclear whether the GS we’ll see in NYC is a concept or a production model, we do know that it will be underpinned by an all-new platform that will also be used on the next-generation IS, due out sometime next year. The current GS has been on the market since 2005 and, despite consistent sales, it’s overdue for a refresh. Expect many of the same V6 and V8 powerplants to carry over, although we haven’t gotten word on an F variant or whether the 450h hybrid will soldier on. More intriguingly is word that Scion will bring its own version of the FT-86 to the Big Apple’s auto show, although don’t expect a production version – this will be yet another concept similar to the version we saw at the Geneva Motor Show, just with new badges and a few stylistic tweaks. Expect more details to follow in the coming weeks. Toyota Launches Tacoma Production in San Antonio

About 1,000 Jobs Added to Produce Toyota’s Best-Selling Pickup

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (August 6, 2010) – Production of the Tacoma pickup truck began last month but was marked today with a ceremony at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc. (TMMTX). The $100 million investment boosts total investment to $1.4 billion.

Texas Governor Rick Perry joined San Antonio community leaders, team members, suppliers as well as Toyota officials including Toyota Motor Corporation Executive Vice President Atsushi Niimi.

Tacoma’s production move to TMMTX was announced a year ago and adds 1,000 jobs. Today, over 2,800 team members are employed at TMMTX and the plant is fully positioned to ramp up Toyota’s pickup truck production for the American market.

“The San Antonio plant has shown a great deal of resilience during the recession and is fully prepared to ramp-up Tacoma production,” said Chris Nielsen, TMMTX president. “By building Tacoma in Texas, we are able to consolidate pickup truck production in the United States under one roof, allowing us to fully utilize the plant’s capacity.”

During the economic downturn, TMMTX was one of several Toyota plants impacted by poor sales. However, TMMTX retained its workforce instead of laying off, in order to strengthen team members’ skills and improve plant processes.

Toyota of Wallingford Announces the All-New 2010 Toyota 4Runner Earns Highest Frontal Crash Test Rating from IIHS

TORRANCE, Calif., March 9, 2010 – - The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) today announced that the all-new Toyota 4Runner mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) has earned its highest ranking of “good” in their frontal offset high-speed crash ratings.

IIHS frontal crashworthiness evaluations are based on results of 40 mph frontal offset crash tests. A vehicle’s overall frontal evaluation is based on measurements of intrusion into the occupant compartment, driver seat test dummy injury severity, and the level of restraint system dummy movement during the test. By comparison, frontal crash testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is performed at 35 mph.

The IIHS is an independent non-profit research and communications organization funded by auto insurance companies.

All Toyota and Lexus models meet or exceed the safety requirements of the federal government and the NHTSA.
